A poem on Hahnemann by Dr. Kavitha Kukunoor
The first woman to practice medicine in France was a homeopath. And she was none other than Melanie d’Hervilly-Gohier, the wife of Hahnemann. She was granted legal license to practice medicine in 1872 [ ref ]. She was followed by Madeleine Brès who was awarded M.D. in 1875
Professors Meyer-Steinheg of Jena and Sudhoff of Leipzig, two of the world’s greatest medical historians, assert that the influence of Hahnemann was, on the whole, certainly for good. He emphasized the individualization of the patient in the handling of disease…..and he demonstrated the value of testing the actual virtues of drugs by trial.
